He who writes...

Sites like this all too often don't offer guests access to information about the creators of the site.  I felt that it might bring a little more of a human aspect to the place if I was to at least share a bit of 'me' with you.  My name is Andrew, I am a live music fan & A/V hobbyist.  My personal instrument of choice is the acoustic guitar, though I am sorely poor at playing said instrument, due in no small part to lack of practice!  Favorite instruments to listen to would be violin or piano.  Aside from music, my hobbies are computers (my trade), Mt. biking, snowboarding, kayaking & when the chance presents itself; horseback riding.

With regards to audio, I am a firm believer in the 'scientific approach'.  Private & group blind auditions have shown me that most audiophile tweaking tricks are simply myths and ego-driven BS.

Hmm, what else: I'm an ardent environmentalist / pseudo-vegetarian & my favorite musical style is old-school, Mississippi / Delta style Blues, though I have a firm place in my heart for 'classic' punk in the form of Clash / Rollins / Nomeansno... and, well - ok, a million other genres!  A Liberal at heart, I'm a fan of Justin Trudeau's style and have high hopes that he will one day lead our country even more effectively than his father.

My social heroes include David Suzuki, Farley Mowat, Nelson Mandela, Noam Chomsky and Bruce Cockburn.  A list of more tangible icons would be headed by my step-father, Jim - an 'honest & reliable as the Sun & Moon' kind of guy.

I'm a member & supporter of the organic & non-GMO food movements as well as social programs such as Doctors Without Borders, Greenpeace, The David Suzuki Foundation and a variety of animal rights groups.  I have a simple philosophy: "we are on this planet for a (really) short time - lets all help one another and not bugger up the place for other beings before we go".

Getting back to the site: its here to focus as much on the music as the equipment.  Audio / Videophiles bicker over this inaudible / invisible thing or that with regards to amplifiers, CD players, preamplifiers, flat-screens etc., but loose sight of the real passion - music!
